"Boost for school learning "
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a$500 million loan to India to help improve the quality of school education and to mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 on students learning.
The loan supports the Integrated scheme for school education (SAMAGRA SHIKSHA). About 1800 government schools will be transformed into exemplar schools in the states of Assam, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, and Uttrakhand. Exemplar schools demonstrate a quality learning environment and effective learning.
ADB will support the government committed to providing high-quality education to all by accelerating quality education initiatives across the participating states. A well-educated and productive population is crucial for the country's vision to become a vibrant and knowledge-based economy. This loan will increase the quality of education in India. It will also provide continuous professional development for teachers and principals to build their pedagogic skills subject knowledge and digital skills. The program mainstreams digital technology in teaching-learning practices and expands local digital content based on lessens from Covid 19 pandemic. The program will strengthen each and every state of India to manage information systems to monitor schools' performances and promote evidence-based plannings.
